Arizona Commercial Scale Requirements

The Tucson "Gem, Mineral & Fossil Showcase" and the Department of Weights and Measures want to remind vendors that all commercial scales used in Arizona are required to be both National Type Evaluation Program (NTEP) approved and licensed by the Department.  The following steps can help you make certain that your commercial scale is legal for use in Arizona.

Step 1: If your commercial scale is not currently licensed in Arizona, please fill out the Device License Application.

Step 2: Locate your scale in the NTEP searchable database.

Step 3: Send the completed Device License Application and a check or money order to:

Attn: Licensing Department
Arizona Department of Weights and Measures
4425 W. Olive Avenue, Suite 134
Glendale, AZ 85302

Step 4: Bring your Arizona Weights and Measures Device License to the "Gem, Mineral & Fossil Showcase".  Department Officials will be conducting inspections at the show.

Note: all commercial scales that are not licensed by the Department and/or not NTEP approved are subject to confiscation.
